It was agreed at the Executive Committee Meeting held on 21 November 2007 that the 2008 Indoor Games would take place on Sunday 16 March 2008 in The Royal British Legion Club at The Dubmire, Fencehouses and that they would be hosted by the Houghton-le-Spring Branch.

The following Branches have not yet collected their sale copies of the Autumn Edition of the Durham Bugle:

                     Hartlepool

                     Horden & Peterlee

                     Spennymoor

Will those Branches make arrangements to collect them as early as possible, please.

Anniversaries In 2008

It was generally agreed at the Executive Committee Meeting that the 250th Anniversary of the raising of the Regiment in 1758 and the 40th Anniversary of the disbanding of the Regiment in 1968 would be celebrated jointly at the Annual Reunion of members which takes place on Sunday 14 September 2008.

It was accepted that because of limited resources, only the Annual Reunion could be financed and organised centrally.

The Bugle - Branch Notes

Branch notes for the Spring Edition of The Bugle should be submitted to the Secretary at The Rifles Durham Office by Friday 18 January 2008.

Light Infantry Reunion 2008 - Band Arrangements

The Rifles Band and Bugles will not be available for the LI Infantry Reunion which is scheduled to take place from Friday 13 June to Sunday 15 June 2008. This is because they will be the Roulement Band in Germany from 1 May to 29 June.

The Rifles Waterloo Band has been booked for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th Jun 08. As they are a TA Band they will not be available for Friday 13 June and the only band available was Heavy Infantry (Band & Drums). The decision has been taken not to hold the public Sounding Retreat on  Friday 13 Jun.

The provisional programme for the week-end will be :

Friday 13 June 2008 - LI Battalions Reunion in the Beer Tent, starting earlier.

Saturday 14 June 2008 - The normal Saturday programme with the Waterloo Band.

Sunday 15 June 2008 -   Laying Up LI Volunteers’ Colours and Bligny

Sunday Service in St. Chad’s Church with the Waterloo Band.
