Transport - LI Reunion

The Chester-Le-Street Branch have advised that they have 12 seats available for members of other Branches who wish to travel with them to Shrewsbury on 13 June 2008 to attend the LI Reunion.

Freedom Parade

Members who have submitted their names to take part in the Freedom Parade on Sunday 17 February 2008 should note that they must be seated in Durham Cathedral by 0940 hrs.

 

The schedule for the parade is as follows:

 

All members to be seated in Durham Cathedral by 0940 hrs

 

After the Service assemble on Palace Green at 1040 hrs.

 

The Parade will then march to the Market Place.

 

The Freedom Scroll will then be presented to 3 Rifles.

 

The Mayor will then inspect the front rank of the Rifles.

 

A silver bugle will be presented to the Mayor.

 

The Commanding Officer of 3 Rifles will ask the Mayor's permission to exercise the Freedom of the City.

 

The Band & Bugles, marching troops, the Association and Cadets will then march off the Market Square and proceed to Millennium Place where a right wheel will be effected to march back towards the Statue, giving an 'eyes right' on passing the saluting base.

 

3 Rifles will then march back to the Palace Green and the DLI Association and the Cadets will right wheel towards the telephone kiosks in the Market Place, where, on dismissal, they will enter the Town Hall and witness the unveiling of the Colours of 2 LI.

 

The Band & Bugles will give a marching display on the Palace Green for 20 minutes.

 

3 Rifles will march back from the Palace Green to the Town Hall where there is to be a Civic Reception.

 

Marching pace will be that of 3 Rifles!

Branches will have received details of this sponsorship :

 

Major John Spiers is doing the "Big Battlefield Bike Ride" and is committed to raising £2000.00 for the named charity so please do your best to encourage your members to contribute or authorise a Branch contribution using the forms provided.

 

   
 

Indoor Games

Branches are reminded that bids to take part in the Indoor Games of 2008 should be submitted as early as possible.

 

Holders of Trophies should ensure that they are suitably inscribed for 2007.

 

South Shields shoul d inscribe the "Overall Winners Trophy" with the joint names "Durham & South Shields 2007".
