Indoor Games - Instructions

Please find enclosed the Instructions for the 2008 Indoor Games which will take place on Sunday 16 March 2008 in the RBL Dubmire Club at Fencehouses.

 

Please read them carefully and take the necessary action where necessary.

 

   
 

Indoor Games - Meals

The Houghton-le-Spring branch have indicated that the lunch at the Indoor Games will cost £3.50 and an application form is enclosed (land mail version only) inviting you to select the meals you require for your attending Branch members.

 

There are three choices i.e. Curry, Salad or Vegetarian and the host Branch would be pleased to receive an early indication as to numbers.

 

Please oblige by submitting your application to The Rifles Durham Office by the date indicated.

 

   
 

Indoor Games - Teams

Included in the meals application form is a requirement to name teams for the three disciplines i.e. Darts, Dominoes and Whist.

 

If you are unable to name your team at the present time but wish to take part, please endorse the form “Entry Confirmed - Team Later”

 

   
 

Percy Peacock

An enquiry has been received requesting information on a Percy Peacock who was originally with 2 DLI in Burma, was wounded and incurred phospor burns on his arm. He may have served in Korea with the 1st Bn as an NCO - possibly C/Sgt.

 

Anyone knowing of him should communicate with Major Lawton at The Rifles Durham Office.

 

   
 

Financial Statement - Year Ending 31 December 07

Enclosed with the Bulletin is a pro forma for reporting Branch finances for last year.

 

Please complete this form and return it to the Rifles Durham Office in accordance with the instructions thereon.

 

This is a mandatory requirement.

 

   
 

Freedom March - Durham 17 February 2008

As previously announced The Rifles will be given the Freedom of the City of Durham on Sunday 17 February 2008.

 

The Association has been invited to participate. However, as The Rifles contingent will be in the region of 200 they have asked us to restrict our numbers to 50.

 

As the march will be at regimental pace only those members able to fulfil this requirement should venture forth.

 

Please supply The Rifles Durham Office with the names of your members who wish to join the parade by 8 February.

 

   
 

Sales Of Durham Bugle

The Editorial Committee of the Durham Bugle wish to thank those Branches that have collected and sold their supply of the Autumn Edition.

 

However, can I make a last appeal to the three Branches named in the December Bulletin who have not yet collected their agreed supply?

 

   
 

Gateshead & Newcastle Branch - Secretary

Information has been received informing us of the resignation of Mr Bill Thompson, Secretary of the Gateshead & Newcastle Branch on grounds of ill-health.

 

Until further notice the Branch contact will be Mr Jimmy Quinn and any correspondence should be sent to him.

 

We wish to thank Bill Thompson for his work on behalf of the Association and hope that with rest his health will improve.
