Stock Item - Messenger Satchel
We
have on order a stock of Messenger Satchels. A successful pilot study revealed
that they would be well received at a price of £8.50,
The
satchels are large enough to be used as an overnight bag and the main
compartment is big enough to take a large laptop.
It
has an office section with pen holders, a pocket for travel tickets etc and a
pocket for a mobile phone.
It
also has a document wallet, security clip fasteners, is olive green in colour
and has the DLI motif in the centre of the flap.
Please advise your members accordingly.

DLI/LI
Association Golf Day
The
DLI Association Golf Day will take place on Friday 12 September 2008 at the
George Washington Golf & Country Club in Washington, Co. Durham.
It
will be a Championship Course of 18 hole singles - Stableford - Full Handicap -
Men max 28 and Ladies max 36.
Members will be playing for "The Schweppes Challenge Trophy" and there will be
four prizes which will be presented after the end of play.
Tee
Times 1030 hrs to 1100 hrs.
Entry
£25 each which includes the provision of tea/coffee and bacon roll.

Light Infantry Reunion 2009
Advance information has been received that the 2009 Light Infantry Reunion will
be held in Shrewsbury on the weekend 19/21 June.
Consideration is being given to opening Nescliffe Camp for the weekend but this
will be on a private basis and will probably be slighty more expensive as a
consequence.
Full information will be issued when all aspects of the weekend have been
agreed.

Wearing of Medals - Ceremonial Occasions
Standard Bearers and members attending official ceremonial functions should on
all occasions wear their medal entitlement unless otherwise instructed.

Indoor Games 2009
The
2009 Indoor Games have been awarded to the Washington Branch and will take place
in the Top Club at Washington on Sunday 8 March 2009.

Christmas Memorial Dinner
As
a consequence of para 11.9 of the Executive Committee minutes of the 25 June
2008 the Durham City Branch have opened up their dinner which is scheduled to
take place on Thursday 11 December 2008 to all Branches and, to reciprocate the
hospitality shown to the Association by the Royal Marine Association, they will
be invited to this function.
The
Dinner/Dance will be held in The Three Tuns Hotel, Old Elvet, Durham from 7pm to
1230 hrs and tickets will be in the region of £16.00 which will not include
wine.
A
request for the attendance of the Burma Band has been made - however, this may
not be possible due to school requirements of the younger members of the band.
Alternative entertainment will be arranged should this be necessary.
Tickets will be available when all details have been finalised.

Reunion Accommodation/Meals
Branches are reminded that all requests for accommodation and meals at the
Annual Reunion being held on Sunday 14 September 2008 should be sent to The
Rifles (Durham) Office, Elvet Waterside, Durham DH1 3BW by Monday 25 August
2008.

Korean Veteran - Deryk Rogerson
Trevor Bence whose brother Douglas Mervyn Bence was killed in Korea with 1 DLI
on 22 November 1952 is seeking the whereabouts of Deryk Rogerson who also served
in Korea with 1 DLI and formed a close relationship with his brother.
