Major-General Sir John Mogg

 

Capt. Alice Rawdon-Mogg who is OC of an Army Recruiting Team in Scotland, having previously served as a Troop Commander in Afghanistan, is to lay a wreath on behalf of the Association at a commemoration in the village of Lingevres in Normandy, marking the battle fought there on 14 June 1944.  

 

Alice is the granddaughter of Lt. Col H.J. Mogg who commanded the 9th Battalion in North West Europe up to the end of hostilities.

 

   
 

County Durham Books

 

Enclosed with this Bulletin (paper version) you will find a Book List and order form  

 

Several of the books are DLI orientated but there is also a great variety of interesting and inexpensive books.  

 

Please advise your members of this list and reproduce if there is a demand for it.

 

   
 

New Officials - Spennymoor

 

Mr Colin Watson has resigned his position as Secretary of the Spennymoor Branch and we thank him for services rendered.

 

Colin is extremely busy as an Area SSAFA Representative.  

 

We are  pleased to advise that his place has been taken by Mr W. Foster whose address is as follows: 22 Bowes Grove, Grange Estate, Spennymoor, Co.Durham. DL16 6LT.  

 

Mr. Frank Brannigan was elected as Treasurer.

 

   
 

Executive Committee Meeting

 

The next meeting of the Executive Committee of the Association will be held in The Rifles (Durham) Office, Elvet Waterside on Wednesday 25 June 2008 commencing at 1400 hrs.  

 

Please ensure that your Branch is represented -  the Agenda for the meeting is enclosed with this Bulletin (paper version).

 

   
 

Royal British Legion - Durham County Rally

 

The RBL has invited all Branches of the DLI Association to take part in The Durham County Rally being held in Coxhoe on Sunday 29 June 2008.

 

There will be a Service in St. Mary’s Church in Front Street, Coxhoe where you are asked to be seated by 1045 hrs.  

 

Wreath laying will follow at the Cenotaph opposite the Church.  

 

There will then be a parade to the Working Men’s Club which is located approximately 60 yards away.  

 

This will be Durham County's last Rally in Durham’s name as in July they are amalgamating with Northumberland Tyne & Wear.

 

   
 

Spennymoor Gala Parade - 5 July 2008

 

All Branches will have received a letter giving details of the above parade.
