Indoor Games - 2007

The 2007 Indoor Games took place on Sunday 4 March 2007 in the Royal British Legion Club, Fencehouses.

The Houghton-le-Spring Branch is to be congratulated on the excellent way in which the Games were organised.

To have the Darts Tournament finished by lunchtime is a Games record and to complete the Whist Final before dark can only be termed miraculous.

The food was well prepared and the service provided left nothing to be desired.

Well done the Houghton-le-Spring Branch.

The results from the Games is as follows:

Game Winners

Runners Up

Darts Washington South Shields
Dominoes Durham Spennymoor
Whist Bishop Auckland South Shields

The Games Championship was shared by Durham and South Shields who will share the trophy.

Major Ted Darwin assisted by Major Chris Lawton presented the trophies to the winners and all those present were congratulated by the Chairman for the excellent atmosphere in which the Games were conducted.

The LI Reunion - Shrewsbury 8 - 10 June 2007

All Branches have received the itinerary for the above.

Appendix B of the instructions issued is the bidding pro forma and this should be submitted to The Rifles Durham Office no later than Tuesday 1 May 2007.

Cheques should be made payable to "DLI Central Bank" and NOT "LI Central Fund A/C", as printed.

The Bugle - The Regimental Journal Of The Rifles

It is the intention of The Rifles to produce a Journal which will go out to a Subscription List.

The cost of two issues a year will be £13.00 (incl. p&p), for a full colour 200 page, high quality product.

The Journal will cover all the main pillars of the Regiment and will give due space to provide the necessary linkage to our former Regiments.

It is hoped, of course, that this will encourage many of the previous contributors and subscribers to the various Journals to transfer the allegiances to "The Bugle".

A pro forma for subscription is available from The Rifle Durham Office.

The aim is to distribute The Bugle in the first week in September and contributions are therefore required no later than 9 July 2007.

Limited space suggests that the DLI should produce a General Report on behalf of all Branches and contributions will be called for at the June 07 Executive Meeting.

Borneo Book
