"The Laying Up Of The Colours 1968" - A Print

The Light Infantry Office has obtained a limited number of prints of the painting by Tom Carr of "The Laying Up Of The Colours 12 December 1968".

The cost of each print will be £5.00 plus post and packing.

This offer is of exceptional value and initially will be available to members of the DLI Association only.

Branches should make this offer known to their members and reserve copies by phoning Shirley on 0191 386 5496

Christmas Cards

Branches who have not yet ordered their Christmas Cards are advised to do so as soon as possible - stocks are diminishing rapidly

Pangat Jasa - Malaysia Medal

There is still the possibility that members who have applied for the above medal will be presented with it by a Malaysian Consulate Official at the Annual Reunion.

If this is the case then they will parade in front of the Bishop Auckland Branch who will be leading Association Branch this year.

A copy of the Order of Markers for the Annual Reunion 2006 is enclosed with this Bulletin

Reunion Raffle

Branches should note that demands on the funds of the Association in respect of staging the Annual Reunion are substantial.

The Reunion Raffle goes some way in reducing this and Branches are expected to donate prizes.

These donations can be handed into The Light Infantry Office by Friday 9 September, handed to the Secretary on the College Green prior to the parade or given to Shirley at the Association Shop in Bede College. Please put your Branch title on the donation.

Ticket Sellers - Reunion raffle

The leading Branch Bishop Auckland are reminded that as agreed by the June05 Executive Committee meeting they are expected to provide two ticket sellers - one to distribute the tickets and the other to collect the money.

The tickets and a bank money-bag should be collected from the Association Shop at the entrance to Caedmon Hall at Bede College at 1330 hrs.

Cost of the tickets is 5 for £1.00

Calendar 2007

A Calendar has been designed for the Association for 2007.  The Calendar features a series of photographs from our archive which we are sure will bring back memories to many.

A colourful cover will reveal that all the profits will be donated to the San Martino Trust in memory of Major Ian English MC who was a founder trustee.  It is proposed that the Association make this annual donation to perpetuate the memory of Ian.

The cost of the calendar will be in the region of £3.50, however, this is only an estimate at the moment.

Please advise your members and if necessary take orders or reserve copies.
