The Society of Friends of the DLI
Regimental Museum (Registered Charity No 273744) was formed in 1977.
The
Friends is an independent,
voluntary organisation devoted to the preservation and understanding of the
history of County Durham's own regiment, The Durham Light Infantry.
The
Society works closely with the
DLI Museum
and the
Durham Record Office
and acquires on their behalf objects linked to the Regiment and research
material that might otherwise be lost. Funds are also used to develop and
enhance the Regimental collections and improve access to them. The Society of
Friends of the
DLI
Museum is run by an active group of members, known as the
Elected Officers and
Executive Committee.
New
members are always welcome, so why not
become a Friend
today? As a Friend, you will not only have free entry to the DLI Museum but
will also know that you are helping to preserve the DLI's
collections for the future.. ...and if you want to get involved, then there
is a lot to get involved in.
Over the last two years, the Friends group has produced a series of
temporary exhibitions
to mark major DLI anniversaries and also published its own magazine -
The Durham Bugle
- twice a year.
