The Inkerman Club Constitution & Rules 

 
   
 

 

Title:    

 

The organisation shall be called “THE FAITHFUL” INKERMAN DINNER CLUB.

 

   

Objects:           

 

To maintain the spirit of D Company The Light Infantry Volunteers, The Durham Light Infantry and the Light Infantry Regiment amongst all ranks, past and present.

 

To attempt to keep in touch with those mentioned in the above units.

 

To maintain the comradeship which existed in the above units, and to promote social intercourse by arranging an annual dinner in November each year on the nearest Saturday to INKERMAN DAY.

 

Membership:

 

The following are eligible:

 

All those who served (or are serving) in the Durham Light Infantry or the Light Infantry, whether as Commissioned officers, other ranks, or personnel enlisted in or transferred to any of the regiments of the Light Infantry.

 

 

Officials:

 

A President (normally a retired senior officer), Chairman (normally a retired senior other rank), a Secretary/Treasurer (normally a retired senior other rank), will be elected by the committee for an indefinite period and will serve in those positions until they hand them over, or are relieved of them by the committee for any reason.

 

Meetings:

 

There will be no meetings of the Dinner Club members, but the committee will meet on at least two occasions, once before and once after the dinner night.  All committee members will be advised as to when a meeting of the committee is called.  (Usually 3-4 times a year.)

 

Dinner Club and any other subscriptions:

 

There will be no subscription levied on members of the Dinner Club.  The only money to be received from any member will be payment for a place setting at the Annual Dinner.

Donations and gifts of sponsorship will be decided by the committee at a properly organised committee meeting, and would depend on the circumstances of the case presented.

 

Dinner Venue:

 

The venue for the Dinner Night will be the TA Centre Gilesgate, Durham, as balloted by the members.  Any relocation of the Dinner venue will be notified to the members who will be balloted on this change

 

Accounts/Financial Statements:

 

The accounts/financial statements will be produced at every meeting held by the committee, and the building society passbook will be examined together with a detailed account of any payment made.  In line with the building society requirement, two signatures are required before any cash/cheques are transacted, these being the Treasurer plus one other.

 

The President and Chairman will certify these accounts at the end of each committee meeting.

 

Exclusion of Membership:

 

The committee of the Dinner Club may exclude any member from the nominal roll/address book who has not replied to a dinner notification over the previous 2 years.

 

Books and Reports:

 

The Dinner Club will maintain the following official registers

(a) Minute Book

(b) Accounts Book

(c) Secretary’s Float Account

(d) Nominal Roll of all members

 

Each committee member will receive a copy of the minutes of the last meeting they attended as early as possible.  Should there be any discrepancy in this report the amendments should be initiated immediately.

 

The Committee:

 

The Committee will comprise the following:

President, Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer and a maximum of 12 members

 

Affiliation to The Durham Light Infantry Association:

 

“The Faithful Inkerman” Dinner Club is not affiliated to the Durham Light Infantry Association and is responsible for the day-to-day running and organisation through its President, Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer and Committee Members.
