This building on Elvet
Waterside in Durham has long been associated with the Durham Light Infantry
for which it was the Regimental Headquarters until 1968.
It is now one of the
buildings on a site administered by the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.
A room in this DLI
Headquarters building was at one time intended to be a DLI Museum.
Thankfully, a purpose-built
Durham Light Infantry Museum replaced that idea.
The oversight of the
interests of surviving and past members of the regiment are still part of
the work that goes on in the building.
The staff also work to
maintain the strong links with recruitment areas, organising reunions,
Regimental dinners and ceremonial events.
