THE RULES REGARDING ELIGIBILITY
In Pensioners to the Royal
Hospital have traditionally had to meet 4 conditions:
1. They must have
served as a Regular Soldier.
2. They must have no
dependants.
3. They must have a
Military or War Pension, surrendered on entry.
4. They must be over
the age of 65.
Current social changes have
caused a rethink of the above conditions, and consequently condition 3 above
has been deemed not essential.
There are 2 other factors to
be taken into consideration by people intending to apply to become in
pensioners.
Firstly they should be fit
enough to carry out the many representative functions required to keep the
Hospital in the public eye, and secondly it would be expected that a
candidate without a pension would pay an alternative financial contribution
of at least £100 per week.
Anyone considering applying
for residency should first write to:
RHQ RIFLES, Peninsula
Barracks, Winchester S023 8TS.
